Um, in horror movies why do they always have a guy in a hockey mask?

I mean, I know its not in all horrors, but how does it make it more scary? wouldn't it just make people afraid of goalies?Um, in horror movies why do they always have a guy in a hockey mask?
When a guy is wearing a mask you can't see his face. That means if he takes it off he could be standing in a crowd or standing right next to you and you wouldn't even know it. That makes people paranoid and vulnerable. Like, ';I don't know where to hide or who to go to for help because what if I go to a friend I think I can trust and they turn out to be the nutjob who wears the mask?';





Plus, it dehumanizes them and also it's from the Friday the Thirteenth movie.Um, in horror movies why do they always have a guy in a hockey mask?
Uh...supposedly their face is so horrifying they have to cover it with some sort of mask...





Or if they aren't awful looking, the killer is usually someone who belongs to the group of people being killed, so they have to wear a mask to ';surprise'; the audience when they find out who it is.

it's not really all horror movies, people are afraid of other people in masks, generally.


probably because they don't know who they are, they can't read their facial expressions so they don't know what they are thinking and feeling, it sort of dehumanizes a person.

its like the most famous scary movie, so i guess it just comes from that,


and its not always a hockey mask, but just to have the scary evil guys faced covered up makes him mysterious and just that much scarier
well, for one, its because of how big friday the 13th was when it came out. Jason is like number one horror film character, hes famous for the hockey mask and that's wehre people get it from.
no plus the only horror movie character that wears a hockey mask is Jasen

Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th is the only one that wears a hockey mask. It's an intimidating look.
